The Apple Ipad......Revolutionary?

I feel as if the Apple Ipad will revolutionize the market for school/text books dramatically. Being that everything is going digital, none can deny the momentum digital copies of text books has had in the last couple of years. With the ability for students to buy cheaper copies of text books online the desire for an e-reader has increased by many consumers. Now people will be able to buy an Apple Ipad that functions as a FULL COLOR e-reader with the ability to run other applications, run music and media, as well as the ability to run program files like power point slides. Imagine a world for students in which a book bag is unnecessary and all that would be necessary to take notes, read text, surf the internet, type papers, ect would be your Ipad. Personally I believe the Apple Ipad with future versions will completely revolutionize how we view entertainment, leisure, and education.

  1. As the Chief Technology Officer of a major university I believe that the production of the Apple Ipad can help our university obtain a competitive advantage over other universities and colleges. In our book store we will still offer concrete books and supplies, but will also provide downloadable versions in the form of electronic books for a discounted fee, made available for download off the school website. On the site we will also sell university proprietary applications and software for are students that will assist them in their studies made solely for the Ipad. As a business our desire is not to see our customers/students find our sources like online downloadable textbook websites, for the products we offer because of changes in technology. We hope to attain an early mover advantage, and offer products and software that will encourage people to use the Ipad for education while also maintaining a profit. The Ipad would make the school very profitable creating a new the new market of electronic books for sale. If we are to succeed we need to continue to look at changes in information technology more as a friend to our business and less as a foe that is out to destroy it.
